Photographer Rob Harrison Debuts at Rotterdam’s HAUTE PHOTOGRAPHIE

“LIGHT CAPTIVATES. BUT SHADOWS DEFINE THE CONTOURS OF LIFE’

South African-born, Amsterdam-based photographer Rob Harrison will unveil his first photography exhibition at HAUTE PHOTOGRAPHIE in Rotterdam. Showcasing eight carefully curated pieces that offer a personal glimpse into Rob’s creative world, the debut exhibition explores themes of movement, stillness, and connection, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty found in fleeting, imperfect moments.

As a self-taught photographer Rob’s work is defined by a fascination with light and the careful observation of how shadow plays with form. Through mostly black-and-white photography, he captures raw emotion and refined simplicity, creating images that feel both intimate and striking.

"Embracing imperfection is what lends authenticity to a moment, revealing the raw beauty within an image. It’s often the unexpected movement or the play of shadows that makes a photograph both compelling to capture and to view," says Harrison. "Light captivates, but it is the shadows that define the contours of life."

Running from 27th-30th March during Art Rotterdam, the show marks a pivotal moment in Rob’s artistic journey, offering a window into his evolving vision and storytelling through the lens.
